Privacy Policy
The short version
- What you keep in your vault stays on your phone. We cannot see your contacts, photos, notes or attachments, and we cannot open your vault.
- We do not show ads, we do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.
- The free version has no sign-up. If you join the early-access list on this website, we ask for your email address (see section 3).
- Premium is not available yet. It is designed so that your vault's contents are never sent to our servers. Before it launches, this policy will say exactly what it collects, including how you sign up or sign in.
-
1. Who we are
This policy covers the Nirbhedya Android app (the "app") and this website. The app is published by Laxmi Sridevi Mishra, an individual developer in India ("we", "us"). On Google Play the developer is listed under the same name. You can reach us at support@nirbhedya.in.
Premium uses the Shatachandra Shield service, (shatachandrashield.xyz), which is run by Vivekanshu Shekhar Mishra, an individual developer in India, who handles Premium requests for the app. Either of us can be reached at support@nirbhedya.in.
-
2. What stays on your phone
These things are created and kept on your phone, and we never receive them:
- your vault contacts, notes, attachments and photos;
- your PIN. It is not kept in readable form, and we cannot recover it;
- your 12 recovery words. They are made on your phone and never sent to us;
- the list of apps you lock, and your settings.
Uninstalling the app removes this data from your phone. It does not remove backup files or exported copies that you made yourself.
-
3. What we collect
Free version. No sign-up, no email address and no vault contents. The app has no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting tools of its own. Google Play gives us general statistics about the app, such as installs, countries, app version, and crash reports from people who chose to share diagnostic data with Google. These come from Google Play, not from the app, and they do not identify you to us.
Premium (not available yet). Premium will connect to a server run through Shatachandra Shield to protect the key that locks your vault. Before Premium launches, we will update this policy to say exactly what that involves: how you sign up or sign in, what the server records (for example, technical details of each request such as the time and your IP address), and how long it keeps them. Shatachandra Shield also publishes its own privacy policy, written mainly for its business customers.
Payments. Google Play handles payment. We receive a purchase token so we can confirm that your Premium is active. Premium is not on sale yet; this applies once it is.
Early-access list and feedback form (this website). If you join, we collect your email address and your answers: the features you need, what worries you about phone privacy, and whether you would pay for extra protection. If you offer to test the app early, we also collect the Gmail address you give. We use this to tell you when the app launches, to invite people who asked to test, and to decide what to build. We show only totals on this website, never individual answers. We keep it until six months after the app launches, and you can ask us to delete it, or leave the list, at any time by writing to support@nirbhedya.in. We email you only about the launch and about testing if you asked for that. It is stored in Google Forms and Google Sheets.
This website. The website sets no cookies of its own and uses no advertising or analytics tools. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, so Google may see your IP address when a page loads. Our web host may keep standard server logs.
-
4. Why we use it
To run Premium once it is available, to protect the service from abuse, to confirm purchases, and to understand whether the app is working. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.
-
5. Who we share it with
Only the service providers we need to run the app: Vivekanshu Shekhar Mishra, who runs the Shatachandra Shield server used by Premium; Google (Firebase, Google Play, and Google Forms and Sheets, which hold the early-access list) and our hosting provider, Amazon Web Services. Our server is hosted by Amazon Web Services in Hyderabad, India. Google may process data on servers outside India. We do not sell your data. We may also disclose information if the law requires it. We cannot hand over vault contents because we do not have them.
-
6. Permissions the app asks for
Permission Why Camera To take photos inside the vault. Fingerprint or face (biometric) To unlock the vault if you choose it. Notifications To show camera and microphone alerts and the status of running features. Usage access So App Locker can tell which app is open. Display over other apps So App Locker can show its lock screen on top of a locked app. Foreground service To keep camera and microphone alerts and App Locker running. Run at start-up To start those features again after the phone restarts. Ignore battery saving To ask you to let the app keep running in the background, so battery saving does not stop the alerts and App Locker. You choose whether to allow it. Keep the phone awake briefly So short background checks can finish, for example restarting the alerts. Internet and network state Used by Premium when it is available, and by Google's software that checks whether you are online. Google services access Added by the Google Firebase software that Premium uses for sign-in. Internal app permission A safety setting that stops other apps from sending messages to Nirbhedya. It gives the app no access to anything on your phone. See apps with a launcher icon To show you the list of apps App Locker can lock. The list stays on your phone. This table lists every permission in the app as of 1 October 2026. Usage access, the list of apps, and the camera and microphone alerts are used only on your phone. Nothing from them is sent to us.

7. Backups and copies you make
Android's automatic cloud backup is turned off for this app. A backup file that you create is encrypted, and your 12 recovery words are its only key. Keep both safe.
When you use "Save to phone", the saved copy is not encrypted. When you use "Open in another app", we place a temporary copy where that app can read it, and delete our copy when you close the viewer. The other app may keep its own copy. Copies like these are outside our control.
-
8. Security
We use strong, standard encryption, your phone's secure storage where available, a PIN lock with increasing waiting time after wrong attempts, and automatic locking. No system is perfectly secure. If you find a security problem, please write to support@nirbhedya.in. If a breach of our systems ever affects your personal data, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
-
9. How long we keep data, and deleting it
Your vault data lives on your phone until you delete it or uninstall the app. For data we hold on a server (for example, once Premium is available), or for your place on the early-access list, write to support@nirbhedya.in and we will delete it. We reply within 30 days. The app has no account to delete: removing the app from your phone removes your vault from your phone.
-
10. Your rights
You can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or erase it, and withdraw any consent you gave, such as joining the early-access list. Write to support@nirbhedya.in. We reply within 30 days. Because we hold very little, most requests are quick to answer.
Grievance contact: Laxmi Sridevi Mishra, support@nirbhedya.in. If we do not resolve your complaint, you may also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
We aim to follow India's data protection laws, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 as its duties come into force.
-
11. Children
The app and the early-access list are not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you think a child has given us their data, write to support@nirbhedya.in and we will delete it.
-
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
